March Program to Focus on “Pickett’s Charge”

The First Defenders will meet on Tuesday March 13th for their next program that will focus on the penultimate event of the three day Battle of Gettysburg: Pickett’s Charge.

Meal selections are posted on-line under the “Events” tab, and the March newsletter can be viewed or downloaded from the “Newsletters” tab.  The deadline for meal orders is noon on Friday, March 9th.

The fateful attack by 12,000 Confederate infantrymen against the Union position on Cemetery Ridge still emotionally resonates with Gettysburg enthusiasts like no other aspect of the battle.  If we know anything about the battle, surely it must be Pickett’s Charge.  Or, is it?

Guest presents Wayne Motts and Jim Hessler, both licensed battlefield guides, have studied this seminal event and have written perhaps the finest overview and analysis of this still-controversial decision by General Robert E. Lee.  Their program will bring the events of that sultry July afternoon into crystal clear reality and will provoke a new understanding of this critical event.

Join us on March 13th for what is certain to be an interesting and high-octane presentation you won’t want to miss!
