On Saturday, March 15th, the Central Virginia Battlefield Trust held its annual spring seminar. Featuring five outstanding historians and scholars, this lecture series traced key events in 1862 that would lead to the Battle of Fredericksburg and its impact on the political and military fortunes of both North and South.
Nearly 150 students and followers of the Civil War gathered in Fredericksburg to hear Dennis Frye, John Hennessy, Greg Mertz, James Broomall and Frank O’Reilly review significant events between the advent of Robert E. Lee in the summer of 1862 until the fateful clash between the armies on the slope of Marye’s Heights that December.
Not everyone has the opportunity to attend programs of this magnitude, and over the next five weeks we will provide a review and discussion of these presentations. This is our first effort at this type of programming, and we look forward to your reaction!
