The 23rd Campaign of the First Defenders Civil War Round Table is set to open its season on Tuesday, September 10th, at the Inn at Reading. The kick-off event will feature one of our most popular speakers, Chris Mackowski, a co-founder of the Emerging Civil War stable of authors, lecturers and new generation of period historians. Learn more at the “Events” page!
It’s time to re-enlist for the coming campaign. Many thanks to Lori Border for stepping forward to serve as the Membership Chair. Download a renewal form found on the “Newsletters” tab under “Current Documents,” and send your check to Lori before the October program (or just bring it with you to the September event). Membership due remain at $25 for the 23rd Campaign, and are used solely to support our programs and member communications.
You will notice we have finally…after more than a decade…been forced to raise our meal price to $32. The Board recognizes this is a significant increase, but because a vast majority of members responding to the survey conducted last spring supported the dinner-program format, we hope you will continue to support the Round Table with regular attendance.
And, speaking of programs, the coming campaign season has a little something for everyone (again, based on membership survey responses). Check them out on the “Events” page (additional program information will be added soon). Returning veterans and “fresh fish” can look forward to good food, great friends and evenings full of interesting and exciting presentations, including a Valentine’s Day event (during a presidential election year) with Mary Todd Lincoln.
Don’t wait! Re-enlist (or sign up) today!
