With the advent of September, the 25th Anniversary Campaign of the First Defenders Civil War Roundtable is set to get underway beginning on Tuesday, September 14th, at Giannotti’s Country Restaurant on Pricetown Road. Renowned storyteller Chris Mackowski will kick off the silver anniversary year with his new program: “I’m too late: Joe Johnston & the Battle of Jackson.” Anyone who has had the pleasure of hearing Chris speak knows this will be a program not to be missed!
Membership renewals are now due. The form can be found under the “Dispatches” tab, and can also be found attached to the September newsletter. Annual membership remains at $25.
We continue to face the challenge of a new COVID variant that calls for all due caution, and members who choose to attend dinner programs are recommended to have masks available and maintain social distancing. For those who are unable to attend in person, we will continue providing our programs virtually throughout the coming campaign.
Now is more important than ever before for ALL of us to renew our commitment to study and understand history to combat misinformation and revisionism. We hope our First Defenders family will return en masse for the coming campaign, and we invite anyone with a love and interest of the Civil War period to join us on the second Tuesday of every month between September and May!
